Waters that shaped Winston-Salem

From the body of work entitled “cur•rent [ kur-uhnt ] flow marked by force or strength” now on exhibit at Current, I sought to explore the currents that shaped the cityscape of Winston-Salem, as well as, the currents that flow today within the city.

This triptych of three 18×36 inch panels was inspired by the Silas Creek waterfall on Wake Forest University campus. $1000 for the triptych. Acrylic and varnish on stretched canvas.

These cannot be shipped. Buyer would need to be able to pick up. They can also be delivered within a 20 minute radius of Winston-Salem, NC.

A blue bird

Blue birds have to be my favorite bird. I love their color. I love the way they perch on the power line outside my front window and drop down on non-expecting food. They seem to float through the air. I am really in awe of them: they are so free. Honestly, I could sit for hours watching them. (Now if I could only get them to move into the blue bird box I bought them instead of the wrens!)

Created in 2018, this 36×72 inch piece with white wooden frame captures the vibrant color of this tiny powerful creature. $575. Acrylic on two stretched and joined canvases.

This cannot be shipped. Buyer would need to be able to pick up.

Art inspired by preschoolers

A framed piece from 2004 is looking for a loving home. $375. Framed in archival materials and anti-glare glass. Frame size is 27 wide by 36 tall. Medium is watercolor, clay, tea, coffee, and ink.

When working as a preschool art teacher in 2003/2004, I spent time observing the freshness of marks the young students produced. They did not fuss with their marks, rather, they took time to notice how their motion and pressure effected each mark they made. In addition, they took time to discover how paint colors interacted with each other. Their raw and organic approach to art was my inspiration for this piece.

This work cannot be shipped. Buyer would need to be able to pick up, or I can deliver within a 20 minute radius of Winston-Salem, NC.

The currents within Winston-Salem, North Carolina

From the body of work entitled “cur•rent [ kur-uhnt ] flow marked by force or strength” now on exhibit at Current, I sought to explore the currents that shaped the cityscape of Winston-Salem, as well as, the currents that flow today within the city.

These three 36×48 inch pieces explore the currents that flow within Winston-Salem. Specifically, I selected three iconic traffic patterns from the city. Paint colors and textures were informed not only by the locations but also by the planes that formed from the division of space. These works are a nod to the great field painters of the past. From left to right: 1) Downtown at Cherry and 4th Street; 2) Salem Parkway and I-40; and 3) 5 points. $1000 each. Acrylic on stretched canvas.

These cannot be shipped. Buyer would need to be able to pick up. They can also be delivered within a 20 minute radius of Winston-Salem, NC.

These artworks are for sell on Artfolios: Downtown at Cherry and 4th Street; Salem Parkway and I-40; and 5 points.
